Capital Piling Ltd Announces Sponsorship of Dorking Wanderers Football Club
We at Capital Piling Ltd are thrilled to announce our official sponsorship of Dorking Wanderers Football Club.
When it comes to the erection of buildings, commercial and residential properties and urban infrastructure, piling plays an important role. For those unfamiliar with the term, piling refers to foundations that are driven or bored into the ground in preparation for construction. Typically, piling is necessary when the soil or earth being built upon is of poorer quality as it helps to spread the load evenly.
One form of piling that proves incredibly effective for many types of construction is SFA Piling. As experts in SFA open bore piling, we thought we’d put together a brief guide to the process. Read on to discover how this form of piling works and why it is used.
So, what is SFA Piling? Sectional Flight Auger Piling, or SFA, is a form of replacement piling in which soil is extracted before liquid concrete is pumped in under pressure. The initial piles are formed via the use of a hollow-stemmed vertical screw or ‘auger’ which is bored into the earth to the required depth. Once the auger has bored to the correct point, liquid concrete is pumped in, along with steel caging, to form the pile. The auger is then extracted.
Owing to the method in which the piles are formed, SFA piling is ideal for working in areas with limited work height or restricted space. What’s more, we are able to offer a range of diameters, yet the 300mm SFA open bore is our most popular.
As mentioned above, SFA Piling proves an incredibly effective solution in circumstances where workable height is an issue. What’s more, SFA open bore piling is often used for projects which require foundations to be drilled in unstable ground conditions.
Whilst there are a range of fields in which Sectional Flight Auger Piling may be used, the technique is commonly applied for housing, infrastructure and industrial projects, either in single pile form or as one of many in a piled wall.
Similarly to SFA open bore piling, SFA Grout Injection Piling is a method that utilises hollow-stem sectional augers as opposed to a single channel. Once the augers have reached the desired depth, a grout mixture is pumped in. Then, the augers are removed section by section and steel cages are swiftly installed to ensure structural integrity.
This form of grout injection is often used within built-up urban environments as it is relatively vibration and noise-free. What’s more, here at Capital Piling, we offer this form of SFA Piling to both commercial and residential clients across London, Essex, Guildford and Surrounding Areas.
